Design.

2016
Neckarvillen – Frankfurt – Germany

The project consists in renovating four existing buildings of around 6.000 square meters originally hosting a bank. The request was to transform the internal areas in a boutique hotel in a “between Classic and Modern” style. One of the main challenges in the architectural transformation was to adapt the internal paths to the flows that the new use required. For this reason, we suggested the possibility of having an overpass in order for the flow of users to be more smooth and quick. The project consists in a common area with reception, hall, bar, 140 rooms, 8 apartments and a restaurant open to all citizens overlooking a very popular and busy square.

Private penthouse – Odessa – Ukraine

An interior design project for a penthouse of around 300 square meters in the heart of Odessa. The customer requested a modern style intervention with some classical touches, starting from a new arranging of the internal areas. We helped the young customer understand how she wanted to approach the various areas and, based on this, we changed the layout of the apartment to fulfil current and future needs. The biggest challenge was to identify the style and search for the finishing. Both Italian and foreign artists and craftsmen were involved in order to achieve the international modern style requested by the customer.

WAJBA PALACE – DOHA- QATAR – option 1

The project consists in designing the interiors of the three main areas of a private villa in Quatar based on the first request of the client for a concept design in American “20ies Art deco” style. The three areas were: the big entrance hall with a two-ramp staircase, the Majilis (the typical Middle East living room) and a suite. For the first two, we focused on creating reception areas that this sort of mansions call for, while for the suite studio we aimed for a more warm and private atmosphere, always respecting the consistency of the project. For the shared areas (hall and Majilis), we proposed black marble and Shantung Effect Microtopping, a finishing expressly designed for this project by SMP21_LAB. For the private areas, a glossy American cherry wood cladding was designed to be paired with the black Marquinia marble that guarantees the continuity of the work.

WAJBA PALACE – DOHA- QATAR – option 2

The project consists in designing the interiors of the three main areas of a private villa in Quatar based on the second request of the client for a concept design in contemporary French style with an Arabic twist. The three areas were: the big entrance hall with a two-ramp staircase, the Majilis (the typical Middle East living room) and a suite. For the hall, we focused on creating a reception area that this sort of mansions call for, while for the Majilis studio and the suite, we aimed for a more warm and private atmosphere, always respecting the consistency of the project. For the entrance hall, we proposed white Lasa marble for the staircase, Botticino for the cladding and Rosso Breccia for the floors, paired with a raw silk effect resin finishing, expressly designed for this project by SMP21_LAB. For the Majilis we used a Cremo Impero for the floors and designed a maple twill weave boiserie for the walls.

Private Residence – Mosca- Russia

The concept design was for the ground floor of around 1.000 square meters of a mansion right outside Moscow for which the request was to arrange the internal areas based on the client’s requirements. She requested a classic style layout based on a central symmetrical axis where to place: entrance, hall and main living room, on the sides of which is a second living room and a totally private area made of a studio, bathroom and a suite exclusively accessible from the studio. For the interiors style, we were asked to present a design proposal of a master bathroom inspired by the French contemporary style, therefore rich in elements even very far from each other both in style and period, that are juxtaposed maintaining the taste and balance of the style.

Private Residence – Livorno – Italy

The client’s request was to design the interiors of the main areas of a villa located on the seafront of Livorno. The project will be developed in steps and in separate moments since the client resides abroad for half of the year. The first room we looked at was the little studio on the first floor of the villa. The idea for the interior derives from the profession of the client, our starting point and base for the project of the room. The little studio was enriched with works of art by Gabriele Garbolino Ru that helped build and enhance the original idea of the project. Shortly we will go ahead with the work and design the other rooms: Turkish bath, living and exteriors.

2015 NUMA HOTEL – Frankfurt – Germany

The project consists in completely refurbishing the interior and exterior of a hotel of around 6.500 square meters near Frankfurt. The peculiarity of this building is that it is made of two separate edifices that are connected by a covered path situated in the common gardens.

The main building is modern while the secondary one goes back to the 1500. The request was to design a Business Hotel that respected the different epochs of the two buildings, therefore the first one was to have a more international style, while the second one a more German character.

For the more recent edifice we also revised the exterior, where we proposed a version based on the fusion of German building tradition and Italian taste.

Private Villa – Caesarea – Israel

The request was to arrange the first floor of a mansion located in Caesarea, Israel, conceived as an open space, in such a way to interpret the different areas without building partitions that could lead to the loss of this idea.

We proposed to place raw linen separations with varnished wood shelves to create a hierarchy between the areas but without erecting rigid and blocking partitions. On top of the shelves, we placed a selection of works by the London artist Jonathan Trayte. We deemed it particularly appropriate to add sweets to the clean and neutral concept.

His artistic approach is characterized by the language of colour, used in the display of food and sweets. These glossy, synthetic varnished “skins” re-create similar efforts by creating a seductive charm, consistent with the love for contemporary art demonstrated by the client.

Meeting Room – Livorno – Italy

The project consists in designing a meeting room inside a building hosting a complex of offices located in Livorno in front of the antique docks of the city. The project is part of a wider restyling and rearranging plan regarding the entrance and welcome area of the whole building, that will be developed in steps.

The proposed solution includes a durmast portal right underneath which we placed the table and chairs, while, on the side of the room, we left a little informal area with seats and armchairs. An express request of the client was to maintain the marble aggregate floor, to which we added a portion of wooden floor to complete the portal.

The room had a disproportion between size and height, that we decided to fill up with three backlit gathered raw linen sails that symbolically recall the field of work of the client, but also express the marine theme more in an elegant than technical way.

2014 Private Residence – Caesarea – Israel

The client’s request was to design the exterior of a mansion of around 7.500 square meters. The exterior portion ranged around 10.000 square meters with paving and gardens. In the presented proposal, we made the effort to fix some of the limits of the original design, in search of a wider scope alternative reflecting the grandeur and importance of the project in general.

Our design included a total revision of the exteriors impacting both the design choices and the functional point of view. From a design perspective, bearing in mind the request of the client to maintain the same style as the interiors, and particularly the same level of decoration, we decided to involve the same team of decorators that had taken care of the interiors of the villa for drafting the sketches of the floor decorations.

The project marks a level of detail of very high quality and craftsmanship, and the execution succeeds in enhancing the potential that was already clear in the design.

2013 Marine Terminal – Livorno – Italy

The project consists in the concept design of a marine terminal on the Molo Italia inside the Port of Livorno, to welcome cruisers and tourists when landing and boarding. The area ranges around 15.000 square meters and has been designed to be the sea gateway to Tuscany.

The project aimed at re-employing a portion of an antique fruit warehouse as marine terminal to welcome tourists/travelers, by means of an important re-styling intervention regarding design, function and distribution of the areas.

Another key aspect was to completely re-arrange both the access and internal paths based on an accurate and precise study of the flows of travelers and means of transport.
